Curry Software has released Reading Machine 1.0 for Macintosh. Reading Machine is a shareware solution for paced reading with electronic texts at home or school. The Reading Machine offers three reading methods (left to right eye training, vertically scrolling text, and book-style reading) with choice of reading speed, font, colors, and layout. Features include reading aloud with Macintosh speech synthesis, computer-generated test questions for instant feedback on any text, style shortcuts to save font and color settings, bookmarks and section markers, text searching, removing line breaks and HTML tags from text, voice and balloon help, and a built-in user guide.
